A Singer’s Unstoppable Journey
When I think about where my musical journey began, I see my mother at its heart. She was the one who discovered my hidden singing talent before I even realized it myself. I was barely six years old, imitating TV ad jingles in gibberish at home. Where others might have seen a child’s playfulness, my mother recognized potential. She took the first step by introducing me to Guruji, a master of Hindustani Classical Music. That’s where the foundation of my passion was laid, with the basic notes and ragas shaping my voice and spirit.
But as every artist knows, the road ahead is never smooth. Hard times are constant companions. The key, I’ve learned, is to embrace them. Challenges aren’t hurdles; they’re stepping stones. Life rarely offers that perfect day you envision because growth keeps shifting your aspirations. What you wanted last year may no longer satisfy you today. As I’ve grown busier in my career, I remind myself to never complain—even in jest. I remember the days when I longed for opportunities. Now that I have them, every moment is a gift, an answered prayer.
My journey has had its share of unique challenges. In live performances, people often wanted me to sing mainstream songs—peppy numbers that could make them dance. It’s understandable; celebrations call for music that uplifts and energizes. However, I’ve always drawn a line. I refuse to sing songs with abusive or double-meaning lyrics. It’s a principle I hold close. Instead, I found a way to balance audience expectations with my values by selecting upbeat, clean tracks as dance numbers. And it worked! Staying true to myself has always been my priority, and I continue to stand by it.
Looking ahead, my vision is clear and focused. My future lies in creating original music and performing ticketed shows. These are the spaces where I feel most authentic, where I can connect deeply with my audience. For me, the biggest achievements aren’t awards or accolades but the love and appreciation I receive from my audience on Instagram, YouTube, and live shows. Witnessing the heartfelt response to my devotional song Kaalbhairav Ashtakam has been particularly moving.
But beyond the music, what fuels me most is seeing the contentment on my parents' faces. They never forced me to pursue a specific career path but supported me wholeheartedly in my choices. My elder brother and wife have been pillars of unwavering support, always by my side in this unpredictable journey.
Equally important is my non-biological family—my bandmates and team. They are my greatest assets, sharing my love and commitment to music. Together, we’ve formed a bond that goes beyond professional collaboration. They are my companions on this journey, and I deeply value their dedication.
As I look to the future, my goals are ambitious yet rooted in passion. I want to go far—very far—with the people I cherish, both on and off stage. Music is not just my career; it’s my purpose, and I’m here to see just how far this melody can take us.
